It depends on what you would call abandoned. Canon, Minolta and Olympus have all changed their
lens mounts and none of the new ones included an aperture ring. Nikon as usual is a mixed bag.
Contax? Leica hasn't but they've introduced a digital back for their film SLR's...

From time to time I get annoyed because Pentax ist-series doesn't support
the apperture ring/aperture simulator (Grrr....).
(For me, the main reason for staying with Pentax was the option to use old
lenses/backwards compatibility - it still is though it's a PITA shooting in
manual mode).

So my question is: Have other brands abandoned the aperture simulator/use of
an aperture ring as well - or is it just Pentax???

The 43 is standard equipment for me on my MX. Great lens.

Speaking of C'est What (as we were earlier), I recall that my MX got to try out your 43 Limited for a few minutes whilst we were there. They looked very happy together. In fact, one of the nicest looking body/lens combos I've ever seen.

I can understand why mankind hasn't given up war. During a war you get to drive tanks through the sides of buildings and shoot foreigners - two things that are usually frowned on during peacetime.
