I'm using a G5 PowerMac with a 23" Cinema HD display, both of which I bought refurbished on the Apple store - saving a couple of hundred bucks each, but getting full warranty- and they appear as new goods to me.

The 30" is absolutely wonderful, and word is that a 40" is coming soon. The only issue with these large displays is that you need a special interface from the video card to deliver the huge bandwidth they require. Currently, they're using Dual-DVI, which isn't just two DVI connectors as it may sound like. This is only supported by bleeding edge cards which makes all of this that much more expensive- as if a 30" display wasn't pricey enough!

I use my setup mainly for PS, and I love it!
