Well... I often use this range for landscape panoramas (on *ist D, which in fact means 750mm). I also use it for concerts and theatre work. I do this with my M* 4/300mm and the F-1.7x AF-adapter. I would definitely like to have a 500mm lens in my bag from time to time.
