Hey Shel,
 The non SMC Pentax UV is a nice filter, but you`re right, when the SMC is
on the lens you can`t tell, because the coatings are so nice. It says "Class
II"
on the box, does your SMC`s say that (Class II) too? I going to eventually
get them
for all my lenses too.
