The M series lenses are very compact and some are quite nice. But 
generally speaking, both the later A series and the earlier SMC Pentax 
lenses are optically superior. The M 50/1.7 is among the happy 
exceptions. It's very good.

Yup.  But I need to wait until she gets over the fact that I bought
yet another camera.  <g>  I've got this delusional dream that one day
I'll have at least one copy of every M series lens.  (Ok, maybe not
the dental lenses.)  So keep me in mind the next time you need to part
with one.
