I also found it to have software problems, and wrote a less then favorable
review of the software recently and posted it to the list a while back.  The
software problems are immediately apparent.  But I was able to gather enough
patience to find work-arounds.  Only after that did I realize the focus and
scanning problems were not really software but hardware related.
