The nimh batteries in my isDS go low very quickly when I've been out shooting in 20F or lower temperatures... especially with auto bracketing.
I get a dead camera after about 50-60 jpegs. And, a halfway empty battery icon after about 20 RAWs.
Does anyone know if this is normal?
20F temps are not something I've ever had to deal with around here, but NiMH are known not to be great in very low temps. The AA Lithium cells are much better. Your case sounds somewhat extreme, which leads me to suspect that your batteries are older or lower capacity ... I've heard cases of people with very poor NiMH performance when using 1800mah to 2100mah cells. Sometimes the ratings lie too.
So far, I'm having excellent performance with the Power2000 NiMH AAs (2500mah) I bought. 600-700 exposures per charge (or charge once a week) seems the norm.
I have one of these: http://www.precision-camera.com/page/PCV/PROD/102783
It came with my "long in the tooth" and very used Kodak/Nikon DCS-460. Does anyone know first hand if it can be used with the isDS?
Well, you'd need something to drop the voltage down to the right spec for the Pentax at least...
