I would say the minimum would be a small SLR body, and a fast prime like a
35mm F2.0 or 50mm F1.4, F1.7, etc.  Next step up might be a smaller zoom
such as the 28-70mm F4.  Maybe throw in a 135mm prime, and an ultrawide if
you have it, and you still have a pretty light kit.  You might also bring a
fast prime for museums and night shots, since that can be stowed away when
you don't need the speed, as you will still have the zoom.
