A bargain if you have the $7k to spend, I couldn't warrant spending that much on a lens myself.

Herb...an A* 1200/8 has a B&H price of just under $12K. it was offered here for $7K about 8 months ago.
The SMC 1000/8 is still a good lens for a fraction of the price (around 1K used). I wonder if using the CA prone 1000/8 would be better than using a 400mm or 600 ED lens and cropping. Grain (and lower resolution) versus chromatic aberrations.
