Yes one summer in the car can destroy (turn to goo) foam seals in the camera. Actual experience with an ME Super that had all the foam replace the year previously. I did not have any problems with the film in the camera however.

Before I went the first time to Mali, where I have experienced 60 C., I asked a similar question at my local pro store. The answer seemed sensible: If you can stand the temperature, the film can too.
So how long can you stand 50 C?
I would be more concerned about accelerated deterioration of plastic parts in the camera.
