Because most purchasers of an entry-level anything would not necessarily then purchase a top-level peripheral tool. Would the purchaser of a compact car then buy a set of wheels nearly equalling the price of the car? Anyway, can she not use the supplied Canon software with the XT's RAW files? Did it come with Digital Photo Professional? or how about the Canon Image Browser?
