Sure, but the thing is that I was made aware of things and techniques I didn't know about, even if they were over my head or unimportant at the time. But the knowledge of such things stayed with me, ready to be called up or investigated further when i was ready to use or explore the information. Had no one mentioned such things, I'd still be ignorant of them. It's something like learning about car engines. Most people don't need all the technical info about them. But maybe one day they'll break down somewhere, and the info will be helpful, even if only to know what questions to ask of the repair person or to explain the problem clearly. IOW, even if the info has no immediate use, it may have future value. The more you know, the better your luck ;-)) But that's just me ...
