Chimps share something like 95+% of their DNA with humans. Then again humans share 65% or thereabouts of their genetic material with oak trees...

Chimp? Came across it in a SF story and wonder if there was
any truth
to it or did the author make it up.
Claim was that there is much more variation in chimp's DNA than human's, and that human DNA only varied by about three strands from the chimp's.
