That has got to be the most ridiculous thing I have heard in quite a while. FYI, I like old buildings and old things. I want to shoot something different which has a lot of detail using my (new to me) med format camera. There are other things in the area to photograph besides "your" gas pumps. The thought of "showing you up" never crossed my mind. That assumes that my pics would a) be obviously better than yours (which would be subjective in any case), and b) that they'll be posted here (which they may or may not be); and c) that I'm in some kind of competition with you, which is absurd. We have entirely different visions, so the pics would reflect that difference in any case.
That you even think that I'm trying to show you up says more about your insecurities than any supposed talent I may have. I'm really disappointed that you feel the way you do, and that you've chosen a public forum in which to "discuss" this, but that is certainly your choice. It may be that when I get to the area something else will catch my attention. I've got to be careful about what I photograph as there are only 12 exposures on the roll of film I have.
