Often imported stuff will come to your door as COD. Here in Canada, they
often hold the stuff at the PO until you come in and pay the duty.

however, I imported a brand new set of Tokina lenses (28-80 and 80-200 f/2.8
ATX Pro) last year and found out that there is no duty on photographic
lenses coming up from the States (this may vary depending on the country of
origin). This meant that ordering from B&H was WAY cheaper than getting the
lenses locally, not to mention the fact that the local guys wanted 2 months
to get the lenses where B&H got them to me in 2 days.

Sorry, I didn't quite say what I meant -- a frequent problem I have. I
live in New Jersey -- I imported cameras and lenses from Canada via the
Post to New Jersey, which I think explains my good fortune with the
products and importation costs.

As an aside, my family is from New Brunswick --- along the the northern
Maine border. I'm first generation US.
