That technique has been around for quite a while, and is one that I've been
recommending here for more than a year for almost anyone looking to make a
B&W conversion. It works quite well. The technique was developed by
(iirc) Bruce Fraser several years ago.
BTW, this "Duke of Digital" fellow says there are "seven other" techniques
for converting color to B&W. I suspect there are a lot more ... Katrin
Eismann mentions and explains seven in just one of her books.
