I think Shel is missing the point, to ANYONE buying a 700EUR item, 30EUR is NEVER a big difference. i.e. if you can afford the 700EUR camera, then 30EUR isnt going to be signifigant. If 30EUR is a big deal to someone, and Im sure to plently it is, THEY ARENT GOING TO BE BUYING 700EUR DSLRs!
I don't recall the price difference between the spotmatic and SP500 but if it was say $30, that was 30 years ago when $30 was a lot more money, like $100 today and that was on $250 items , not $800 items like the pentax DSLR.
