Hi Charles.
Once again,i was very glad to have met you at GFM thius year.
For some reason i can only open the winning picture.

Folks, the web does not do this or the other pictures on his site justice. My
mouth
dropped when i saw Charles' shots projected on that large screen.(and the other top photos aswell)
With thoughts of competing in 2006, i am looking at this and thinking, how the
hell do i
come up with shots even close to these. This will be a major challenge.<g>

So i quess thats my commnet on the winning photo Charles.

Just brilliant.

I must get you all liquored up next year and pry those secrets.<VBG>

One of the secrets might be that many of the pictures with droplets reflect what appear to be identical unnatural light sources, i.e. soft box or something similar. That would help punch up alot of the colors/contrast and give a more diffuse look.

Second, many of the backgrounds are apparently artificial backing as well, helping define the foreground image.

In effect, many of these pics appear to have benefitted by some type of portable "field studio".

> Ann requested that I post my winning slides from GFM so here they are. They

are mixed in with some images that I've taken in the past week (the GFM
winners are so labeled). The original images from the competition are Fuji
Velvia slides, all the others were taken with my digital camera using a
Pentax 70-210/F4 lens and extension (bellows). Since they were taken with a
Pentax lens I would guess that they are on topic. Comments are always
welcome.

Thanks for looking,
