- Plastic lens mount on the kit lens seems laughable, but it looks great
through the viewfinder.
- AF segments seem more responsive and obvious than the -DS
On the -DS the AF segments should (as an option) stay lit when subject
is in focus, the Focus OK thing at the bottom is hard to see and forces
us to look down and not at the subject.

That would be nice. I also don't quite understand the MF focus assist... it only blinks in the center? Does that mean that when using an AF lens the assist will only use the center point?

Does Pentax accept any form of feedback from user for firmware
improvement suggestions? I have other suggestions for little user
interface improvements to the -DS and we could make a list.

I have suggested a few things via both telephone and email support request. I have yet to hear anything from anyone about anything I suggested except, "We'll forward your request to our translation department, and they'll send it to Japan." Some of my feature requests include:

- Logarithmic histogram (think moonshots... small numbers of pixels of subtle illumination changes don't show up well on a histogram if the majority of the shot is at one EV. Spike down low, and spike up high. Log would compress that so it would be useful after the shot.)
- Compressed RAW data
- Ability to remove and/or crank-up quality on embedded JPEGs in the RAW file. - Provide baseline (5000K and 6500K) ICC profile for RAW conversion. Possibly even the profile (or equivalent) to the preset modes in the camera (daylight, flash, tungsten, etc).
- Provide a split-screen focus assist.

- AF seems quite a bit smoother and faster
I also felt that when I checked the Canon, but with most lenses the -DS
focuses fast enough. The instant manual focus push button on the DS is
also very convenient and the Canon does not have that.

That's the strange menu setting of, "OK button is temp MF or AE" or something, right?
