I have an i-book G3 700 with firewire that I use on shoots. It's not as
sturdy as a Pismo, but it's a nice inexpensive laptop that serves me
well out of the house.

That's great :) Pismo /G3 firewire (it's the same one, no?) or early
G4 Ti are a NB I would be probably looking for soon.
