In my experience good color technicians have amazing color sense. The best
I knew could color match a photograph to something he had seen years
previously. And before you ask; No, I can't do that. I have a hard enough
time matching two things setting side by side.
One of the technicians that trained me many years ago could look at a
negative (a neg, not a slide) and know how far he had to offset his filter
pack from neutral, and how much more or less exposure from neutral it
required to get an acceptable print.
He had quite an amazing eye.
When I did the colour tests for Kodak, I was told I had perfect colour
vision.
