Yes I agree with you, there are differences which are
not due to film processes.

BJP (British Jornal Photography) did a test resently
on colour rendition of lens, this unfortunately did
not include Pentax.
It found Zeiss, Scheiner to be cool
It found Canon, Nikon and Minolta to be warm.

In this weeks Amateur Photograhy there is a test of
wide angle zooms. It notes that the Canon lens is
noticably warmer that all the other brands. The tester
was a little inexperienced IMHO.

I have had problems with Agfa film and the rendition
of rosy cheek tones, with zeiss lens on a Yashica
compact, fine. On Pentax overblown. Answer change
print film.

Flair on Canon lenses is not always very well rated
apart from the top of the range stuff.
