I format the card from the PC after downloading the files. I prefer formatting in the camera and almost always do so when I insert a fresh card, even if it's been formatted by the PC. But formatting from the PC means that I'm covered if I'm in a hurry and don't have time to do an in-camera format. Sort of a "belt and suspenders" approach.
