What I've done (and uncovered a lemon or two):
Made sure there's a return privilege.
Shot a roll of slide film, including low-angle shots
of a tape measure focused at various points, flash
pics, and a series of a clear blue or even grey sky
starting with slowest shutter/smallest aperture and
working toward fastest shutter/largest aperture.
Then I move on to the bells and whistles, one by one.
Are you replacing the late lamented MZ5n?
Yes but that's not really why I asked the question. It's a hypothetical
question in case I find something interesting the next time I wander
into a pawn shop or buy something off of eBay. I'm also trying to get an
interesting on topic discussion going to help defuse that other stuff.
Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely run a roll through my new to me
used MZ-S to make sure the shutter speeds and metering system are
accurate. I bought it from a reputable place so I'm not overly concerned
about this one.
