No, no,no, no!......don't apologise to me - I only got here yesterday.
Well, this was my third post, or so. I'm not exactly an old hand here :-)

You've reminded me to check with Sigma and Pentax about the likely
'true' metering.
<snip>
But you have an *ist-D, don't you? You can test it yourself, can't you? If
it's manual focus I assume it has an aperture ring (correct me if i'm
wrong). What happens if you turn that ring from 7,2 to 8 in Av mode? Does
the shutter speed change to reflect this? What happens if you take a
picture
in metered manual mode at 7,2 and 8 with the same shutter speed? Any
difference in the resulting exposure?
Or am I missing something? I don't know the lens at all- but that was
clear
by now I think ;-)
Unfortunately, the *istD doesn't seem to work quite like that.
The only way that 'non A' lenses cab be used is by enabling 'f stop other
than A' in the menu.
This gives a displayed shutter speed, but no f/stop reading - although the
camera will still meter (without a display) by pressing the 'Green' button.
