Tom, I archive all my RAW files as a matter of routine, but only convert and
save (as .PNG, slightly smaller file sizes than .PSD) those which are worth
working on. Like most of use here, I would guess, I will normally shoot
more than one frame of a subject and then pick the one which works best.
It would also be practical to convert the .PEF files to .DNG files, which
are about half the size of the .PEF files and do not appear to change
anything in them, archiving those and discarding the .PEF files. I'm a
little nervous about that however, and tend to burn CD's of both!

Subject: RAW file processing
I guess I would like some opinions.
Is it better to just archive the raw files and process only the ones I am
about to use, or batch process them all and archive them as PSD files? It
seems to me that the first method would save disk space and also allow
newer versions of raw conversion to be used in the future.
Of course I guess I could batch process them into a bunch of small jpegs
for reference, and archive the raw files themselves.
As I said opinions wanted, and better ideas appreciated.
