Dual layer DVDs are still very expensive. I'm hoping they become more
affordable.

I'm with you. I wish the RAW files were a more manageable size out in
the field
but I really don't care about their size in post processing land, DVD
media is
cheaper than CD was 12 moths ago, dual layer is becoming popular too.
