The Contax brand isn't dying. Contax as a label is owned by Carl Zeiss Group, and licensed to Kyocera since the mid-1970s; prior to that, Contax cameras were made by Zeiss Ikon, a subsidiary division of CZG that was closed in the early 1970s.

Kyocera is discontinuing that business relationship, the current Contax camera lines are being discontinued: 35mm and digital in September, 645 in December.

I suspect Contax will likely be back with another CZG licensee, or CZG subsidiary.
