I have 24 film bodies dating from 1964 to 2004, and the quietest of
them is the MZ-S.
I don't think that the MZ-S is usually considered a mechanical SLR. If
it sounds like the ZX-5n, though, I'd be inclined to agree it's quieter
than the MX.
