Hi,

I am new to the PDML. I am an experienced
photographer and have been shooting Pentax 35mm
for a few years now. I use LX, MX and Super A
bodies with a variety of lenses.

Now I want to buy a Pentax digital SLR, whether
new, refurbished or used is not important. What
*is* important is that I do not want an
auto-everything DSLR that takes control away from
me.

Ideally, I will be shooting mostly using manual
focus and either manual or aperture priority AE.
I want to use a mixture of KA and K lenses plus
one or two M42 lenses via a K adapter and one
Tamron lens with Adaptall 2 for K.

When the *ist D was introduced it looked just
right for me. I get the impression that the *ist
DS and DL are aimed more at novices, and that a
new, refurbished or used *ist D would suit me
better than a DS or DL.

Can anyone advise me whether the *ist D is still
a viable proposition despite having been
superseded by the DS and DL?

My favourite lenses are the 24mm f/3.5 K, 28mm
f/2.8 KA, 35mm f/2 K, 35-105mm f/3.5 KA, 200mm
f/4 K (all Pentax lenses) and the Tamron SP 90mm
macro. Which Pentax DSLR will work best with
these lenses?

Hoping for some interesting replies! Thank you.

CJ
