Are you kidding? It will. It won't use Shutter priority with K (pre A)
lenses.

Hello Colin,

Welcome. I'll take a quick stab. If you mostly use manual exposure,
then my hunch is that the D is your best choice. If you are wanting
to use Aperture Priority with K/M lenses (pre A) then the D will not
do that. It does have a hypermanual mode where you can set a custom
setting to have hypermanual leave the aperture set and set shutter
speed for you. Then all you would have to do is set aperture with the
ring and press the green button for the shutter speed to be set. If
the lighting changed, you would have to press the green button for a
reading again.

My best rule of thumb is that the less automation that you want
working for you, the more you will like the D. If you want more
automation working for you then the DS might suit you better.

I have two D bodies now and if I had to get another, I would still get
a D over the DS. My reasons are two wheel controls - one for shutter,
one for aperture. HyperProgram and HyperManual (my most used) modes,
dedicated switches/buttons for most common settings, PC connector,
continuous AF in any mode, vertical grip.

HTH for starters.

Bruce
