The Epson P2000 is about the best alternative to a laptop I've found. It's 1/3 the size and weight of a small laptop, has a very large LCD display of excellent quality, and a 40G hard drive. Slots for CF and SD are built in, as is USB 2.0 power, and video out ports. The Li-Ion battery lasts very well ... at least a dozen 1G card downloads ... and recharges in an hour or so.

It's not super quick, but it's fast enough to be useful and enjoyable for downloading from cards and doing image review. It will display Pentax .PEF files from both the D and DS bodies, as well as JPEGs. With JPEGs it will give you EXIF data display, histogram and allows magnification. No such luck with PEF files, though you get the EXIF data display.

I bought it just before my UK trip and have used it quite a lot. Saved me from carrying laptop and stuff, a significant savings.

Forgot to answer your question about Dane Elec. Nope. Never heard of them. But I'm not up to speed on storage devices. I use my laptop, which has both advantages and disadvantages. On the computer I can see that the files are actually there before I delete them from the card. Can that be done with a storage device? I wouldn't mind having something smaller and perhaps faster.
