I have it and seldom use it. Its quite soft most of its range, for me at least. And I found that the AF seems to hunt quite a bit with it if the light is less than spectacular. When it hunts, it goes all the way both ways some times. Needless to say, I dont use it very often unless I want to carry a single zoom lens in a snapshot type of outing. I will probably sell it soon.

Sorry, but, let's face it, on film at least 28-105 is extremely useful range; I actually prefer the 35-135 range, have you seen the SMC-F? Its shortcoming is long focusing, but it has a "macro" at 135.

I've seen a few of the F 35-135mm lately at bargain prices, has anyone got an opiniom on optical performance? anyone even own one? the's no comments on Stans site

Those two lenses are my minimal walkaround kit for the *ist-D
(probably to be supplemented by the 12-24 when it comes out).
The 28-105 never ceases to amaze me - for a consumer grade lens
it produces some outstanding results, and focusses down to 18"
or so if you want close-up stuff.

AARRRGGGHHH! NO! I can't afford any enablement right now! Don't tell me

stuff
like this!

We aim to please,
