My latest horror story involved a DHL shipment from Philadelphia.
This is a three hour drive. For those who may not know, residential
deliveries from DHL are dropped at the local post office and then the
USPS makes the actual delivery. This package took two days to make it
the local (or so I thought) post office. In reality, the package was
dropped at the wrong post office. Said post office sat on the package
for four days before forwarding it to my local post office. By the
time it arrived at my house it had taken eight days to go about 160
miles. Fun!

DHL really sucks. I had a man in Indonesia buy a lens from me on eBay. This was a pretty expensive lens. He insisted that I ship it by DHL because he had an account with them and would charge the shipping to his account. When the driver came to pick up the package, he said it had to be given to him open so they could inspect it before it left the USA. I didn't like that idea, but he insisted so we opened the package and he took off with it. Needless to say, when it got to the buyer it had a nice BIG scratch on the front element. He filed a claim and I assume that he eventually got compensation. To add insult to injury, about three months later I got a bill from DHL for the shipping cost!!!! I sent them a pretty hostile letter with all details, but they kept billing me every month for over a year. I'll never deal with that bunch of jerks again.
