Very interesting ... thanks Don. I've never run into that before.

Just to add to my last post I did a Google search on "cameras flash

a couple

The solution is the same in all cases, reverse the polarity of the
flash
cord.

OK here's my guess:
1.) The Novatron requires that the trigger be a certain polarity.
2.) The DS has a circuit that is the other polarity.
3.) The KX uses a regular switch contact so polarity is not an issue.
4.) The 2850 is either correct polarity for the DS, or it doesn't
care.
Solution: Get or make a reverse polarity adapter for the novatron.
this could be just a Male to Female PC cord cut in half and put back
together in such a way as to reverse the leads.
Some flash makers have reverse polarity adapters, this is
probably why! ;-)

Hey,
Well, I took the advice of several on the list and bought a
Wein adapter in hopes of powering some Novatron Lights. No
good.
How I tested:
1. Put flash adapter on hotshoe
2. Camera in manual flash mode.
2. connect to Novatron lights via pc connector.
3. Hit shutter at various settings, including manual, AV, TV,
nothing from Novatron via pc connector. Shutter speed 1/60
s.
4. Hit test button on adapter - Novatron lights go off!
5. Put Vivitar 2850 on hotshoe of adapter -works fine.
Put Wein adapter on KX. Able to power both Vivitar flash and
Novatron lights via pc connector.
Read and re-read manual for camera to increase pressure
behind eyeballs.
Any ideas? Any custom pre-sets or any other settings? I am
not getting this at all. It seems to me per No. 4 above that
the camera is communicating through the pc connector, that
the adapter is mounted properly through No. 5 above, that the
connector circuitry is correct via my experiences with KX.
What in the world is the deal?
Dave
