Gosh, I hope that is all that it is!  If you are right Don, a
big smack on the kisser to you!

Just to add to things, I tried a 285HV (the big guide number
one) using the pc connector on the Wein adapter - no
problems.

I hope the local Dodd camera has a mai/female pc connector -
perhaps Ritz will.

I will report back sir.

Solution: Get or make a reverse polarity adapter for the
novatron.
this could be just a Male to Female PC cord cut in half and
put back
together in such a way as to reverse the leads.

Some flash makers have reverse polarity adapters, this is
probably why! ;-)
