I have been looking at some 28-200 2.8 ED (IF) lenses. Some are black, some are silver. Is there a difference?
If you use the white ones, everyone thinks you're using Canon. If you use the black ones, everyone thinks you're using Nikon.
In theory painting the lens white, silver, or cream keeps it from heating up as much when used outdoors in direct sun. I've never seen any tests confirming that, though.
