Thanks for the reminder about the MF/AF switch. I just checked it to be
sure it was set to MF. Gotta find out how to turn off those focus
confirmation lights in the finder. Very annoying and seemingly not all
that accurate.
Otherwise the camera feels nice in the hand, offers good balance with some
of the M and A lenses, and will soon be ready to receive a strap and greet
the great outdoors.

Shel, there should be a custom function that turns the red focus
confirmation off. It's 'Superimpose AF Area' on my D. The one on the LCD
readout you're stuck with.
