Hi Shel.

I bought the D because i have more mf lenses than AF(getting more latly though)
and wanted
to still
use them.
I used the 28 and 50mm lenses for a while and found them not to bad. I did
notice that if
the shot looked
focused in the finder, the confirmation did not beep and visa versa. After i
while i
started to take 2
shots. One that the finder said ok and one the beep said ok.

I do have a problem with certain action or movement shots with mf lenses, but
everything
seems ok
with the 2-3 af ones i have.

I have noticed in all my Dslr's that exposures are not quite right using an
external
meter. Usually about a
stop under. It does seem to help in winter snowy shots though.

But.

I find it a lot more reliable than D2h on most days.

,My sister is going through the same thing you are, soft and some oof. Its hard
to help her
by email so i
hope to get down to her house and help in person. It might be a small thing she
is not
doing correctly. It
took 4 emails just to get her to do the diopter adjustment right. LOL
