Count me in. You are absolutely right, in my view, to broaden this beyond
the PDML. There are quite a number of other Pentax lists around which
could help to swell the numbers dramatically.
I would suggest that you ask all responders to provide their names and
addresses and Pentax kit, on the basis that you will provide the data only
to Pentax, but with an opt-out for those who prefer to remain "unlocated".
Although I quite like the $50 suggestion for an ad in a Japanese paper, I
would suggest putting it on the back-burner for the moment. There might
be more support for this whole thing than one imagines. And there again,
there might not.
If you were to devise, say, a simple spreadsheet template, you could
easily delegate list compilation to people in different states/countries.
I'm very willing to help. However, before starting I think a lot of
thought needs to go into how best to structure this so that the final
output is in a form that Pentax will find not just useful, but
compelling. A blueprint for a three-model range of cameras, for instance,
with indications of acceptable prices, and a full list of features. And,
of course, it's got to be realistic.
Sounds like a lot of work!

OK, this has recieved more attention than I expected.
Here's the proposition:
I, Don the Iowanian ;-) will volunteer to keep track
of this if there are enough people interested, AND
if they will promise to participate in a reasonable
and organised fashion.
I will set up an e-mail address for this subject to keep
it seperate from, and independent of, PDML traffic.
I will establish a web page to report results as far as
the "Wish List", voting results, and number/name of
participants.
I will take all suggestions from list members as to the
planning and execution of this project.
I will tally all responses and votes with no regard to my
"Personal Wish List" except my own 1 list entry and my 1
vote per issue.
This will, I expect, be a fairly complex job before it is
finished so I will welcome volunteers and WILL NOT consider
the project without a good level of interest from PDMLers.
This is to include their family, friends, associates and
anyone else you can convince to participate.
All contributers will be required to provide enough personal
information to make this a credible message to Pentax.
Personal information WILL NOT be shared by me to anyone
EXCEPT Pentax or their representitives and WILL NOT be used
by me for any personal reasons.
OK Folks, how vote you, Yea or Nay????

Subject: Petition to Pentax? (was Re: How Pentax Could Survive)
Now that is a sane and sensible idea. Perhaps we can start such
a petition
and submit it to Pentax. Imagine how impressed Pentax Corp would be to
receive an envelope from IOWA filled with suggestions from loyal Pentax
users from all over the world. I wonder what, if any, impact such a
list
would have, assuming it was presented in a reasonable and
organized manner.
