Pentax "illogical"? No. Japanese, yes. Like the Japanese auto mfg. in Ohio where I work, they're engineering driven. They are neihter marketplace- nor marketing department-driven. Hence Pentax will often make the very best, but be slower about it.
The unfortunate thing is that they are so slow. Someone always beats them to the punch. (Which is what Honda & Toyota have learned and Detroit has yet to learn.) Any survey or petition by users will have no effect because the corporate philosophy is not a suitable construct so to allow such to occur. Pentax, in its current state, will always be 3rd-tier consumer/prosumer camera company. Good product, capable of fiscal survival, but third-tier. (Canon & Nikon being the clear first-tier leaders and Sony, K-M covering the middle route. One might disagree with this categorization, but the point remains that P is lightweight in the field.)
