I got a Wacom Intous3 9x12 Tablet. (Haven't used it yet, but I finally
unpacked it after having bought it about 3-4 months ago. I've been busy with
lots of
other stuff, including switching bedrooms with my Mom.) Got it cheap with a
student discount, well, cheaper.

I also picked up Adobe Illustrator CS with a student discount about six
months ago. And haven't cracked it open yet.

And I just got a book about using the Tablet with Photoshop CS and Painter
IX. I figured I go through the book which sort of has lessons to become
familiar
with how the tablet works. To practice and get a feel for the pen, etc.

I mainly got the tablet for artwork, not photography. Or to be more accurate,
to combine the two, which is something I've been wanting to do. Since I
started out life as a painter, and since I partly took up photography in the
first
place to eventually get to the point of combining them. Not sure my
photography is good enough for it yet. But I am chomping at the bit to try it.
And I can
work on my photography more as I go along.

There isn't a big difference between Illustrator and Painter is there? I
wouldn't think so.

I mean, I can't see spending any more money to buy Painter IX just for this
book. Although I could on a student discount.

Has anyone used Illustrator? Anyone used Painter? Any major differences?

Or does anyone have any input of any kind?

TIA, Marnie aka Doe
