Actually, given the current price of the Canon EOS 5D, and the rates at which prices have dropped for DSLRs up until now, I'm not sure it will be that long.
Canon, at the moment, has the advantage of making their own sensors.The can sell the sensor to themselves for camera manufacture for whatever price they want to.
