Disagree. Actually, dismissing sensor, 5D has WORSE parameters than 20D, they 
are 
rather between $650 bodies and 20D (3 fps vs 5 fps in 20D, 1/200 flash sync vs 
1/250). And 5D has non weather-sealed body, it is not comparable in any way to 
D2X 
which you were thinking of. Similar in parameters and build quality to D2X FF 
camera is 
1Ds for about $7400 - the difference is enough to buy hi-end DX 17-55/2.8 and 
VR 
70-200/2.8 AF-S lenses...
Right now it is expected that market will shift to buying DSLRs as digicams 
will be more 
and more replaced by cameras in mobile phones. And before price of FF cameras 
would 
fall to your predicted level, there will be many millions of APS-C cameras 
sold, creating 
standard like it was with 35 mm film before II W.W.
