Actually, the Nikon F/N 90 is more similar. The Nikon predated the Pentax. Howewver, the Pentax mount doesn't flex with a 80-200/2.8 lens (see user comments on photo.net) like the Nikon does. Nor does its tripod socket flex like the Nikon (see Galen Rowells comments). Still the Nikon is the semi pro body while the Pentax is strictly for amateurs according to urban legend. Incidentally, the camera shares exactly the same shutter unit. I don't even like the Z-1p....

The F90 was not Nikon's top line body, the Z1p is Pentax's top line.
They put tripod sockets on lenses for a reason.
Ever looked at the build on an F4 or F5?
I don't like the Z1p either.
