The DCS-14n was built out of Nikon body parts , the DCS-14c seemed to be
built out of Sigma body parts with a EOS lens mount, the Camera
electronics and functions followed the manufacture of the body parts
style. The Sensor and support electronics were farmed out to someone
else entirely.

Surely that was one of the reasons why they discontinued those
cameras? They were Nikons/Canons with a sensor produced by a forget
who, but someone other than Kodak. Seems to me that continuing with
such products (or actually, to introduce them in the first place)
would make little or no sense for a sensor and (sometimes) camera
producer like Kodak... It's a bit like if they had produced disposable
cameras with a box and lens from Nikon, and stuck a Fuji film in them,
if you know what I'm saying...
