they didn't make it very long. i use mine as a stand-in for the A* 400/2.8 when i am traveling. it means i am stuck in manual focus all the time when i have to shoot with an extender, which is necessary for almost all of my birding shots right now. i don't have sufficient flight traveling protection for the A*400/2.8 yet, and i'm also not yet willing to take the really large tripod and head necessary either. that will change in the next month or so though.

You don't see all that many FA400's. I had to import one from B&H (it cost me the entire proceeds of selling my RB67 kit). I only wish it were different in two ways... firstly I want f/4 (as if I could afford it), secondly I wish it had a focus limiter. Oh and third I wish I'd use the thing more often.
