Well..., at least a good optical rangefinder/viewfinder is fairly
expensive to make (would add $100 or so to the price of the camera). A
decent optical viewfinder would not be so expensive, but would be quite
a bit bulkier than the tiny parascopic style viewfinders on most P&S
cameras (digital or not).

Seriously, though, it seems to me that the "best of two worlds" is
actually a digital camera with a good optical viewfinder. I'm not
sure the optical viewfinder concept is broken, so why try to fix it?
