Canon wasn't a player in MF, Pentax was. Plus, the Pentax 645 body will
probably work fine with 6x7 lenses. That's why I'm holding on to mine
at least until I see how pricey the body is. If it starts at 5K or so,
it will be 2K in three years.

what we

right
thing by sticking to APS and 35mm?

Yes, that's true. (Although we haven't heard from JCO since the ugly
button
incident.) But, seriously, Pentax has indicated that there will be a
successor to the *istD. To me, that says it will be capable of using
the new
lenses that were marketed specifically for the *istD. Now, perhaps
there
will also be another new 35mm-style Pentax DSLR at some time that is
not
meant to be a successor to the D or DS, but Pentax has apparently said
that
the next camera will be the D successor.

Canon can't afford to support multiple product lines in the same

Pentax
quite obviously has all they can do to support one type of
35mm-style
DSLR
cameras. The D645 is the large sensor pro model. I don't think it

any
sense to try to sp

introducing a 35mm-style DSLR that disenfranchised the people to

sold new lenses.
That's definitely possible.
But *I'd* buy it!
I might also. But then I'd have to sell my DA lenses, which might
make
me want to sell everything and just switch.
Bah. JCO's been threatening that for years over the green button issue
and *he* hasn't followed through ;-)
