He proceeds to show a 1.5X insert, to illustrate what he means, and so far as I'm concerned, it has brought out the detail of the ends of the branches, against the sky. So why is that "a bad thing?"

I thought that many of the example photos were too heavily jpegged for me to be able to see what he was talking about, sadly. That was one of them.
